Project Description
I have always believed that preserving natural woodwork requires both technical knowledge and a relentless dedication to proper preparation. In this featured project for Stewart’s Painting, I had the privilege of providing a complete interior and exterior finish for a beautiful custom built log cabin.
Traditional log home finishing is a classic craft with rich historical roots. Early timber builders relied on raw oils and simple sealants to protect wood from moisture and weathering. Today, modern coating technology allows us to protect structural timber while enhancing its natural grain and rich organic beauty. For this project, I selected top quality materials to ensure long lasting protection and an elegant aesthetic.
Project Highlights
-
Exterior Protection: I applied premium Sansin stain across the exterior logs and siding to guard against environmental weathering and ultraviolet damage.
-
Interior Varnish: I finished the interior woodwork with a natural clear varnish to highlight the raw warmth of the timber.
-
Precision Chinking: I maintained clean, sharp lines along the white chinking between the cabin logs to create a sharp contrast with the natural wood grain.
-
Meticulous Preparation: I masked and covered surrounding areas thoroughly to guarantee clean results across high ceilings and custom features.
